Pinzgauer of North America

In 1986, Steyr-Daimler-Puch tried again to break into the US market, this time with the Pinzgauer Turbo D. In February 1986, the Pinzgauer was presented at the NADA (Natioal Automobile Dealers Assiociation) Convention in New Orleans.

Even though there was a lively interest in the vehicle, the plan to sell the Pinzgauer in the United States failed again due to the lack of a capable selling organization. Also, US laws prohibited the sales of Pinzgauers to the US Military, which was a major drawback. See also: Pinzgauer of North America Presentation invitation.
